Six-Channel DTS Audio Capability Added To RCA DVD Player With DIVX

On January 6, 1999, Thomson Consumer Electronics announced another dimension to the ìbig soundî capability of home entertainment products with the introduction this month of the RCA RC5231Z DVD player with the Divx feature.The RC5231Z (suggested retail price $499) adds six-channel DTSÆ Digital Surround capabiilty pass-through as well as six-channel DolbyÆ Digital, giving conumers the abilty to achieve theatre-like audio by connecting the appropriate amplifier and external speakers.
