JVC Reveals Interests In DTV And DVD

At JVCís Orlando, Florida-held line show, the company said that in the future there would be announcements introducing new DTV, DVD and DVD-Audio products slated for February 2000. The DVD-Audio is expected to be a ""universal"" player with DVD-Video playback as well. JVC is the chair of the DVD-Audio Working Group, which just finalized the Version 1.0 specs. At the show, JVC exhibited a combination EchoStar DISH receiver/Web TV unit, Model TU7100, designed with DBS partner EchoStar, which offers a built-in hard disk that can record up to 1/2 hourís worth of programming on a time-delayed basis for later viewing. The suggested retail price is $449. A single DVD-Video player was announced with the Divx feature. The model XV-DX1BK carries a suggested retail price of $699.
