Large Format Cinema Association Conference

The Large Format Cinema Association (LFCA) Board of Directors has confirmed plans to hold the 1999 LFCA Conference and Large Format Film Festival in Los Angeles, May 18-22 at the California Science Center. LFCA í99 will mark the associationís 3rd annual Conference and 2nd annual Large Format Film Festival, and the second consecutive year the event has taken place in Los Angeles. LFCA í99 is open to all members of the international large format film industry. Program highlights will be the Large Format Film Festival, including new and classic works in 15 perf/70mm and 8 perf/70mm, Large Format Animation, and a closing gala featuring a 5 perf/70mm Hollywood widescreen classic. The Conference will feature panels, technical sessions, historical tributes, awards and a keynote presentation. Organizers reported resounding critical success for LFCAís 1998 Conference and Film Festival, held in Los Angeles last May at the California Science Center. A total of 341 professionals from all aspects of the large format cinema industry and representing 11 different countries attended the event, which included a spectacular keynote address by Mandalay Entertainment chairman and film industry wizard Peter Guber, and a moving, multi-media tribute to 90-year-old specialty film pioneer Francis Thompson. Founded in September 1996, the Large Format Cinema Association is a not-for-profit international association open to all those interested in the worldwide large format industry, including filmmakers, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, theatres and their support industry, as well as film students, film studios and theme parks. The mission of LFCA is to promote global public awareness of large-screen entertainment formats, to provide a forum for sharing information and to foster the growth of the industry.
