""Mondu-Mania"" Sweeps The Net

Broadcasting from a coconut-shell satellite dish from his virtual island somewhere off the coast of West Pacifica, Internet media star ""Mondu"" has announced the launch of ""MONDUís Video & Music Hut,"" an online ""e-tailer"" (electronic retailer) specializing in high quality and hard-to-find movie and music titles. Some scholars trace the origins of Monduís unusual name to the French colonial term ""mondial,"" meaning ""worldwide empire;"" others say it derives from the Japanese Buddhist deity ""Monju,"" the Boddhisatva of Wisdom. Mondu himself, however (the primate proprietor of MONDUís Video & Music Hut) explained his name this way, at an impromptu press conference held in May: ""Mon see great movies and music; Mon-du his best to find them - for peanuts!,"" said the cheerful chimp, from his island hideaway located smack dab in the middle of the online jungle. ""Then Mon-du do his best to deliver them right away."" To encourage Web surfers to check out the price breaks at www.mondu.com (most titles are discounted 30 percent off list price), Mondu will be offering a free CD (or DVD) to one new visitor every day for the entire first month following the site's launch. Educational and entertaining music ""Trivia"" Quizzes also will be featured on the site's home page. ""Mondu.com"" Swings Into Action. In keeping with the environmental motifs and concerns in Mondu's ""Online Jungle,"" Mondu also is in the process of finalizing online cross-promotions with several non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving the ocean environment and saving endangered wildlife. A portion of proceeds from all purchases made at www.Mondu.com will be donated to these soon-to-be named organizations for use in their ongoing environmental projects. ""Mondu.com"" was created by the people behind ""Kabang!!!,"" a larger-scale movie and music Web site which will be launched online in July. The current Mondu.com site and carries immediately shippable inventories of nearly 100,000 movies and over 280,000 music titles (including more than 20,000 classical music albums). Located in Torrance, California, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, Kabang!!! Inc. was established earlier this year by the founders of Creative Computers, a multi-million dollar powerhouse in the direct marketing and online retailing of both branded and made-to-order personal computers worldwide. An early pioneer of e-commerce, Creative Computers is known both within the high tech community and by consumers for the company's early, immensely popular ""e-tailing"" Web sites PCMall.com, MacMall.com, and uBid.com. Kabangís principals also were the founders of Denim Software, creator of computer graphics and special effects software for film and video. Denim's cutting-edge software has rapidly gained acceptance with business customers, including a number of Hollywood post-production and special effects houses. The site is depicted with hand-drawn cartoon images of Mondu (and his ""virtual island"" of Monduland) which visually distinguish Mondu.com from conventional online retailing sites.
