Panasonic Mobile DVD Theater Continues Successful National Product Roll-Out

Introduced at the 1999 Consumer Electronics Show and just last month made available for U.S. consumer purchase, Panasonicís Mobile DVD Theater continues to successfully rollout across the country. ""Panasonicís Mobile DVD Theater is the first DVD player specifically designed for mobile installation, a true landmark in mobile electronics history,"" said Gene Kelsey, Vice President and General Manager of Panasonicís Audio Division. ""Panasonic has always been the one to push the envelope in DVD initiatives, starting from technical innovations that made DVD possible to various DVD product offerings, including introduction of the first portable DVD player and the first mini system to include a DVD/CD changer."" The mobile DVD system is designed for custom installation in any vehicles. The compact player can easily fit into a standard 1 DIN space. A 7-inch diagonal color LCD monitor, designed for rear seat installation, delivers DVD video, while a Dolby DigitalÆ /DTSÆ Digital Surrokund processor, round out the installation. And, because this mobile DVD player is developed specifically for in-vehicle use, its design and construction offer protection against skipping in a broad range of driving conditions. ""Weíre pleased to announce that our Mobile DVD Theater system has been well received by dealers and consumers,"" continues Kelsey. ""With DVD surpassing all sales projections in the home theatre market, Panasonic firmly believes that some of those same customers will wish to duplicate that experience in their vehicles."" Panasonic is actively courting home theatre buffs on the move through a variety of means. Mobile DVD Theater systems have been custom installed in various vehicles, including a sport utility vehicle, a luxury sedan, and a mini van, and are currently ""touring"" dealers around the country for hands-on product demonstrations. The product was recently launched in Seattle, Washington followed by Southern California. It is now available through top car dealers across the country. The national product rollout is being supported by aggressive advertising campaign and in-store POP materials. Mobile DVD Theater is also garnering recognition among the industry and trade press. Recently, the system was chosen by car audio dealers nationwide to win the í99 Grand Prix Award for innovative technology from Audio Video International magazine. ""Weíre sure that Panasonicís new ímobile theaterí will make everyone want to sit in the rear seat, instead of in the front,"" says Kelsey. ""And why not? Those in the rear seats can now relax and watch DVD video entertainment on a holiday trip to the beach, overnight at the campground, or just on a weekend drive.""
