Toshiba Celebrates Ten Years Of Cinema Series With Expanded Lineup Focusing On Widescreen And HDTV Compatibility For 2002

Toshiba's Cinema Series is celebrating its tenth anniversary. For 2002, the company is introducing a new line of 15 Cinema Series color TVs, including nine HDTV-compatible sets and six widescreen models with DVI/HDCP interface. ""To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Cinema Series, Toshiba brought all its engineering and development resources to bear in creating a line of color TVs that clearly stand out as the best in their class,"" noted Scott Ramirez, Vice President of Marketing. ""Cinema Series TVs are designed to provide users with a no-compromise entertainment experience, utilizing the most advanced and innovative digital technologies."" PowerFocusô HCF achromatic lenses on Cinema HD-compatible projection models utilize a five-element lens system, claimed to result in a 50-60 percent higher contrast ratio than comparable lens systems. In addition, all Cinema Series HD projection sets also feature built-in TheaterShieldô anti-reflective protection screens. The new PowerFocus HD Wide CRTs are claimed to provide a 20 percent increase in sharpness and 5 percent increase in brightness over last year's Cinema CRTs. The Cinema widescreen projection models feature a new .52mm TheaterFineô HD screen, plus MegaBandô Super Wide Band video amplifiers and Adjustable DFineô high-speed velocity scan modulation. All Cinema Series widescreen projection TVs include Toshiba's new TheaterLink IR Control System, which allows viewers to operate a variety of additional home theatre components by pointing the remote control at the video screen.
