THX Teams Up With Velodyne For New Subwoofers

THXÆ Ltd. has announced its partnership with Velodyne Acoustics, Inc.Velodyne has worked with THX to develop for THX Ultra2 certification its new HGS-18 and HGS-15 subwoofers, which were introduced at CEDIA EXPO 2002.THXís Ultra2 Certification establishes standards for speakers designed to reproduce film soundtracks and multichannel audio as intended.Velodyne's HGS-18 and HGS-15 THX Ultra2 subwoofers deliver bass with less than 1 percent distortion to 20 Hz and below. Both speakers feature single, front-firing drivers--18 inches in the HGS-18 and 15 inches in the HGS-15--and provide 1,250 watts of continuous power, and 3,000 watts of peak, dynamic power.
