Polk Audio has announced the introduction of the new PSW650 powered subwoofer. It features patented Polk Audio technologies and innovative features for outstanding home theatre and music performance. The PSW650 features dual 10-inch drivers with 2-inch voice coils mounted on opposing 1-inch thick MDF baffles. The system is vented via twin Power Ports mounted on the rear (amplifier side) panel. Polk Audioís patented Power Portô system allows air exiting the port to slow gradually, thereby reducing air turbulence at the port mouth. Air turbulence wastes up to 3dB of bass energy and may produce audible chuffing noise and distortion. The system is driven by a built-in 250 watt high current amplifier that has a host of convenience and performance features:- High Pass Filters - When passed through the PSW650, main channel signals may be high pass filtered at either 40Hz or 80Hz (or not filtered at all) from both line or speaker level outputs- Defeatable Low Pass Filter - When using subwoofer processor output whose built-in low pass filter cannot be defeated, the low pass filter of the PSW650 can be turned off to avoid interactions between filters. - Front Panel Volume Control - Continuously Variable Phase Control- Manual Or Auto On/Off- Speaker Level Inputs The PSW650 will be available in the US in March 1999 at a suggested retail price of $699.95.For further information contact Paul DiComo, Polk Audio, 410 764 5201.
