Thule Audio Announces DIGIT II 192 kHz Sample Rate Converter Upgrade

Thule Audio now offers a new, unique option to significantly improve the sound from existing CDs, according to Brian Anderson, Vice President of Trian Electronics, Inc., the importer and distributor for Thule Audio. ""With the new DIGIT II upsampling D/A conversion, the sound from existing CDs will rival or exceed that of DVD-Audio and SACD,"" Anderson said. ""The quality of the original recording will finally have the ability to reach the listener's ears. Our customers will enjoy significantly increased performance from their CD collections with DIGIT II, and will discover new detail, energy, and space that they have never heard before,"" he concluded. The new DIGIT II upsampling board contains a 192 kHz/24-bit asynchronous sample rate converter, combined with the latest high-end Texas Instruments (formerly Burr-Brown) DACs coupled in double-differential mode. The asynchronous sample rate converter converts the 44 kHz/16-bit CD signal into a very high-frequency bit stream, based on an intelligent interpolation from the last 64 input samples. This high-frequency stream is then filtered and re-sampled at the output rate of 192 kHz with 24-bit resolution. ""There are several advantages to this new digital processing design,"" Anderson said, ""including improved dynamic range, effective suppression of clock jitter, and out-of-band noise attenuation."" Thule models DVD250B and CD150B may be upgraded for $700 MSRP, and both are now offered with the DIGIT II factory-installed as the CD150B/II at $3,195 and the DVD250B/II at $2,095.
