Deluxe Film laboratories and AudioTrack have joint ventured to develop secure watermark piracy-fighting technology for major studio release streamed over the Internet. AudioTrack is fine-tuning online copyright protection for the music biz as part of the Secure Digital Music Initiative, and will develop its watermark tracking technology for embedding into the audio portion of films. Any illegally downloaded copies of films will be traceable with AudioTrackís tracking technology. Studios can insert a disabling watermark, rendering a film unlistenable unless downloaded by an authentic buyer. The patented watermarking system is billed as completely inaudible and not a degradation factor to the filmís original soundtrack audio quality.""Once an AudioTrack Secure Watermark has been embedded in a motion picture soundtrack, it will provide protection forever, regardless of subsequent use or misuse,"" said AudioTrack CEO Stuart Rosove.Deluxe President Cyril Drabinsky added, ""As the Internet and new technologies continue to revolutionize the entertainment industry, it is essential that we embrace reliable, cost-effective techniques for curbing digital piracy.""
