EMI Recorded Music is the second major record company to allow retail outlets to download music directly onto a CD while the customer waits. EMI will partner with Digital-On-Demand, which is building kiosks at selected music retailers where a CD may be burned in five to 15 minutes, complete with liner notes and album art. Sony Music Entertainment was the first major to sign with Digital-On-Demand a month earlier. The kiosks should roll out in Los Angeles sometime in August and in New York later this year at Virgin Megastores and the various retailers owned by Trans World Entertainment.
