Spielberg Intro To ""Saving Private Ryan""

While the widescreen LaserDisc edition of ""Saving Private Ryan"" was released (see Widescreen Review Issue 33 for review) without the pre-movie and introduction by Steven Spielberg that was supposed to precede the home video release of the film in May, DreamWorks has announced that Spielbergís prologue will appear November 2 on DreamWorks Home Videoís repriced special limited edition of the movie on VHS.The new release, marked down from the rental-priced original to $24.99 will also feature behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast and crew.Spielbergís message had to be postponed because of production delays relating to D-Day and the National D-Day Museum.DreamWorks still has no plans to release the film on DVD.As for a DTS Digital Surround LaserDisc, Image Entertainment has not decided whether to release one or not. Should a DTS release be imminent, hopefully the added supplemental material will be included.
