Yahoo! Not To Acquire Excite@Home

A rumor that Yahoo! was in negotiations to Excite@Home has finally fell flat after Excite President George Bell, speaking at a technology conference in San Francisco, said out-right there was ""no truth to the rumors about acquisition discussions."" He did acknowledge that his company ñ formed by the combination of the Excite portal service and the At Home high-speed Internet access service ñ has been in discussions with both Yahoo! and America Online about ""getting on the start page of a very powerful broadband opportunity."" Yahoo! would benefit with a placement on the desktop of Excity@Homeís broadband service.
