Association Of Independent Feature Film Producers Formed

Formalizing an international association of independent producers, the Association of Independent Feature Film Producers has been formed as a nonprofit educational and advocacy corporation by Los Angeles attorney Marc Seven Cohen. The primary goal of the AIFFP is to provide original content and stimulate discussions, education and advocacy that advances independent filmmaking. Although the AIFFP name is new, it represents a long-term network of people who now have the advantage of a central organization. ""Weíre already getting so much traffic on our Web siteÖweíre going to have to upgrade our systems,"" said Barry Collin, Director of New Media for AIFFP. While AIFFP members work throughout the world, the organization will be based in Hollywood. ""The power structure and resources for indies are here in L.A., ""Collin said. ""Our members have clearly stated that the independent producer must be knowledgeable and savvy about all aspects of filmmaking. Thatís why weíre focusing on practical, real-world issues."" The organization also plans to work with local film commissions, production companies, distributors and other groups on behalf of its members. The organizationís Web site can be found at www.aiffp.org.
