Goldmund Introduces The Eidos 36 Universal Player

7-Jun-05

Ten years after the Mimesis 36, the first Goldmund CD player, the new Goldmund Eidos 36 Universal Player is the most advanced player ever produced by Goldmund. Based on advanced developments made for the Eidos Reference Player, the Eidos 36 is an extremely sophisticated machine providing unique quality for CD Audio playback, as well as highest possible standard for DVD Video playback. In addition, SA-CD, DVD Audio, and MP3 disks are also supported. The mechanical construction fully applies the Goldmund principle of ""Mechanical Grounding"" to the minute detail. Total weight of the unit is over 50 lbs (24kg) and the construction uses a brass and aluminum chassis on a structure of 4 adjustable steel evacuation pods, as for the Eidos Reference. Digital Audio is available either on optical output or on S/PDIF coaxial (both 44 and 96kHz). The built-in D/A circuits are using the new Goldmund Alize 5 circuit with phase accuracy within 1 degree in the bandwidth. They are used for 2-channel and multi-channel playback of CD, SA-CD and DVD. The power supply of the Eidos 36 is extremely sophisticated, using 4 separate toroidal transformers in a magnetically protected steel enclosure and multiple regulation circuits providing totally isolated voltages to the transport mechanism, the decoding electronics, the D/A circuits and the control panel. First deliveries of the new Goldmund Eidos 36 Universal Player took place in May 2005.
