Boston Acoustics Innovates With Compact Sized PowerVent Powered Subwoofers
Boston Acoustics today introduced a complete suite of powered subwoofers, the Boston PowerVentÆ Subwoofer line, aimed at providing uncompromised performance - deep bass and high output - from very compact and stylish enclosures. Each PowerVent subwoofer incorporates BassTracô, a new patent-pending Boston-designed circuit that prevents its amplifier from being driven into audible distortion - so the bass stays clean and strong at any listening level. The new subwoofers offer total hookup flexibility for use in any kind of audio or AV system. When used with the latest digital home theatre electronics, these subwoofers offer a ""Crossover Bypass"" option, providing the customer with a simple, one-cable connection for the best reproduction available. For use in stereo or analog home theatre systems, all models feature built-in variable crossovers with a large range of adjustment available to make it easy to achieve a seamless blend with virtually all `main' speakers available on the market today. All models also feature a 24dB/octave low-pass filter to prevent the subwoofer from being localized by ear ñ maximizing placement flexibility in the room. PowerVent Features And Specifications The Boston PV1000 PowerVent Powered Subwoofer The ultimate performer of the group, this remarkably small system can produce the lowest notes of music and movie sound tracks with full impact and no compromise performance even in the largest of rooms. To achieve its prodigious bass output, the PV 1000 uses a patented Boston long throw bass driver, coupled with a high-efficiency amplifier design capable of producing more than 1000 watts. The bass unit's frame is made from die-cast aluminum and uses Boston's patented Radial Vent cooling technology to improve power handling. Priced at $1,199 MSRP, the Boston PV1000 has dimensions of 14 3/4 by 11 1/2 by 14 1/8 inches. The compact PV1000 comes in cherry or black ash real wood finishes. The PV1000's frequency response is 22-150 Hz +/- 3dB, its crossover is adjustable between 50-150Hz. The Boston PV800, PV600 and PV400 PowerVent Powered Subwoofers. The PV800 achieves performance similar to the PV1000, by using a larger enclosure and larger bass driver that require less bass power. The PV800 achieves essentially the same performance as the widely acclaimed VR2000 that it replaces at less than two-thirds the price. By computer optimizing the bass driver, cabinet size, PowerVent tuning and amplifier power, the PV800 at $700 MSRP delivers an impressive 26-150 Hz response +/-3dB. Overall dimensions are 18 by 14 1/8 by 19 inches. The PV800 is available in black ash or white vinyl veneer. The PV600, priced at $449 MSRP, and the PV400, priced at $299 MSRP, replace the VR500 and CR400 respectively an offer similar performance at less than 75 percent of the price of the previous models.
