Denon Marketing Manager David Birch-Jones noted, ""The Denon DVD-5000 is the first DVD player that is equally at home in high-performance home theatre systems and high-end audio systems. For video, the DVD-5000 also delivers state-of-the-art audio performance, thanks to its revolutionary 24-bit ALPHA audio processing and built-in Pacific Microsonics HDCD decoding, two leading edge technologies that provide dramatically improved low-level detail resolution and more natural spatial reproduction from CDs and DVD music discs. Unmatched Picture Quality The Denon DVD-5000 provides home theatre enthusiasts with the finest possible picture quality available from DVD discs, with 10-bit video D/A conversion circuitry that provides extremely high resolution and superb clarity and color reproduction. The DVD-5000 includes component video outputs, as well as S-Video and composite video outputs. The DVD-5000 meets or exceeds the stringent specifications required for DVD-Video players certified under the THX Ultra program, the highest level of certification given by THX. Advanced Audio Technology For Ultimate Sonic Performance The Denon DVD-5000 provides an unprecedented level of audio performance from surround sound and stereo music sources. The DVD-5000ís audio circuitry incorporates an ultra-high resolution digital audio output stage, with latest-generation 24-bit/96kHz Burr-Brown DACs in a 4-DAC differential mode configuration, a design that significantly attenuates spurious noise and achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of 118db. In addition to Dolby Digital capability, the DVD-5000 includes a DTS compatible digital output to support DTS-encoded DVD discs. The Denon DVD-5000 is also the first DVD player designed for true audiophile quality stereo music playback. Key to the DVD-5000ís superb audio performance is Denonís new 24-bit ALPHA processing technology, a propriety analog waveform reproduction technology that uses newly developed interpolation algorithms to reduce quantization noise and improve low-level signal resolution from all CD and DVD music discs. Along with an adaptive digital filter that automatically adjusts the low pass cutoff frequency, for improved pass-band and impulse response. The sonic result is a greater sense of ambience and spaciousness and more open, musically natural sound with fidelity, transparency and musical realism far beyond that previously attainable. The HDCD Advantage In addition, the DVD-5000 incorporates the Pacific Microsonics HDCD decoder chip to obtain the full sonic benefits of HDCD-encoded CDs, which offer greater resolution and dynamic range than standard CDs. HDCD uses a patented system to extend the dynamic range of CDs to a 20 bit level, while remaining completely compatible with the CD format. The Denon DVD-5000 automatically senses whether a DVD disc, standard CDs. HDCD disc has been loaded and processes the digital signals accordingly, automatically switching to Dolby Digital, 24-bit ALPHA or HDCD mode as required. Total User Convenience The Denon DVD-5000 supports all the capabilities of the DVD-Video format such as multiple aspect ratios and viewing options, along with a variety of additional performance and convenience features. The Denon DVD-5000 is a breeze to operate thanks to its graphical on-screen displays that allow the user to easily adjust all settings and functions from the viewing position using the DVD-5000ís remote control with back-lit main function keys. The DVD-5000 features premium construction quality throughout, with features such as a highly rigid chassis copper-plated to minimize RF interference, a massive power supply, multiple, highly regulated stages, and extensive use of audiophile grade capacitors in critical signal path applications. The Denon DVD-5000 carries a suggested retail price of $2,500.
