Owens Corning Granted Patent For SelectSoundô Acoustic Room System
Owens Corning has been granted Patent 5,923,002 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its SelectSoundô Acoustic Room System. This system incorporates an array of acoustical components, including reflective, absorptive and diffuser panels that are interchangeable, making it the only home theatre acoustic system that allows for precise tuning of the room. The patent covers the individual components, the resulting system, and the installation method to ensure that, for each installation project, the appropriate degree of acoustical control is achievable and that parameters, such as reverberation time, sound absorption of specific frequencies, room flutter, and speech intelligibility, are effectively managed.
