Broadcast Quality Pay-Per-View Movies Streamed On The Internet

Encoding.com And MeTV.com Sign 750 Picture Deal To Create Feature Film Library

Television quality pay-per-view movies from the Internet will soon be a reality. encoding.com, a leading full-service provider for enabling movies and music for the Internet, has signed an agreement with Internet video-on-demand start-up MeTV.com to encode and host 750 full-length feature films. encoding.com has completed digitizing 20 movies that may now be viewed on the MeTV.com Web site, and the remaining films will be added continuously in preparation for MeTV.com's official consumer launch next spring. This partnership, along with MeTV.com's unique business model, ushers in a new era in home entertainment. encoding.com will translate the vast library of films to the language of the Internet, and MeTV.com will stream the movies at full-screen resolution to broadband Internet users at two speeds, 375k and, for the first time at 700k, which matches broadcast television quality. ""As the broadband user base expands, MeTV.com will be the first with television quality feature film programming,"" said Martin French, MeTV.com's Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing. ""The contract with encoding.com marks the first significant move to build the first feature film library available over the Internet."" Martin Tobias, Founder and CEO of encoding.com, also known as the minister of order and reason, said their ability to control all the variables when translating complex content into a digital format is fundamentally changing the face of streaming media, producing the clearest audio and video ever broadcast via the Internet. ""We're proud to partner with MeTV.com. Our Optimized Encoding and Hosting Process enables their pay-per-view business model and gives consumers premium home entertainment at their fingertips."" ""MeTV.com and encoding.com have been working together for some time to develop high-quality encoded material and this deal represents a commitment to significantly expand a natural relationship,"" Jeffrey Pescatello, President, MeTV.com.
