Runco Introduces Refined New Super-HDTV Projector
A sophisticated new HDTV-capable CRT video projector has been announced by Runco International acknowledged worldwide as a leader in high-end, large-screen video-display technology. Based on an entirely new chassis design and employing three advanced 7-inch CRTs of unprecedented performance, Runcoís DTV-943 incorporates a number of additional refinement that make it the ideal choice for serious home-theatre enthusiasts in todayís digital-video, high-definition era. The DTV-943 features performance enough to deliver full-resolution display of all Digital Television (DTV) display formats including the two principal high-definition models, 720p and 1080i. And the DTV-943ís sophisticated projection system, utilizing newly designed 7-inch tubes with fully corrected HD-145 optics and advanced gamma correction, brings these next-generation images to vivid, highly accurate life. But top-quality projection is just the beginning of the DTV-943 story, the design also includes a fully integrated implementation of Runcoís video scaler incorporating full motion-adaptation. Based on the advanced new gmVLX1A-X chip from Genesis Microchip, with a scan rate of 38.8 MHz, this up-converts all incoming standard-definition NTSC signals such as DVD, as well as broadcast, cable, and DBS programming, to deliver dramatically improved image integrity with virtual elimination of visible scan lines. And because the DTV-943 uses sophisticated scaling instead of conventional ""line-multiplying,"" the results are film-like under motion conditions, visually transforming todayís most widespread program sources. Another powerful new refinement found in the DTV-943 is Runcoís ""Eye-Q"" intelligent convergence system. Under fully automatic microprocessor control, this combines on-board intelligence and video-DSP to implement superbly accurate 25-point color convergence with virtually no user intervention. Eye-Q is designed to be end-user friendly, allowing the customer to touch-up convergence thus eliminating the need for a service call. The new DTV-943 projector is fully equipped to serve even the most sophisticated home-theatre system, and can display images from 5 feet to 20 feet in width. Component video, RGB computer, and composite and S-video inputs are all on board to accept any combination of source components or AV controller. Better yet, 32 on-board memories can store display modes, signal inputs, and user preferences, automatically recalling combinations according to the signal source selected. A full-function wireless remote controller is supplied. The DTV-943 is front or rear-projection capable, and floor or ceiling mountable, and despite its considerable power, it is impressively compact. At just 22 x29 inches and barely a foot high, its physical presence can all but disappear.
