Bringing one-touch control to every room in the house is now an affordable reality thanks to the new ColorTouch CT-1000 compact touchpanel from Crestron Electronics, Inc.Part of the CrestronHome family of products, the CT-1000 is outfitted with a 3.8-inch touch-sensitive screen equipped with high-resolution, 256-color display capabilities which automatically adjust to changing lighting conditions for optimum visibility, day or night. The same in height and width as a two-gang Decora-style faceplate, the unit can be custom-painted or engraved, and additionally features scalable fonts, programmable pop-up menus, 10 programmable quick-access buttons for frequently used commands, and full graphic support (BMP, JPG, etc.). Performance is further enhanced by an onboard audio section, which facilitates the storage and use of WAV sound files to bring a whole new dimension to room control.Representing a one-touch solution for any home, which would normally be forced to employ only a small number of touchpanels due to budgetary constraints, the CT-1000 puts an end to system control support by room-to-room gaggles of wall switch and pushbutton controller. And, like all CrestronHome products, the CT-1000 can additionally be used with Crestronís e-control to take advantage of the Internet for remote control and monitoring of an environment, or the instant display for Internet content such as stock quotes, weather reports, and more.Easily installed within existing or newly constructed walls, the CT-1000 ColorTouch touchpanel has a suggested retail price of $860. Served by a simple twist-pair Cat5 wiring scheme, each unit can be daisy-chained infinitely without a need for termination. A four-shade grey scale display unit (model LC-1000) is also available which lists for $640. Programming and customization of the function found on either model is a simple task with Crestronís Windows-based VisionTools software.
