NilesÆ Adds New Systems Integration Amplifierô

High Powered, 12-Channel Amplifier Provides High-End Performance in Whole-House Audio Applications

Niles Audio Corporation, maker of a uniquely broad and deep line of products for multiroom audio and video entertainment, has introduced the newest addition to its award-winning line of Systems Integration Amplifiersô. The SI-1260 System Integration Amplifier offers audiophile-grade high power output with a host of custom installation features designed to complement whole-house audio systems. Addressing the need for high quality, high-power amplification in the more sophisticated custom installation market, Systems Integration Amplifiers meet the challenges of modern entertainment systems that require ultimate performance. The SI-1260 possesses many of the same systems integration features as Nilesí popular SI-1230 System Integration Amplifier, while increasing both power output and flexibility. Virtually distortion free, this 12-channel amp delivers 60 watts RMS per channel into 8-ohm loads, from 20Hz to 20kHz with .04 percent THD. It delivers 80 watts RMS per channel into 4-ohm loads, and 110 watts RMS into the SI-1260 is the stable bridged mono mode of 110 watts RMS into 4-ohm loads, from 20Hz to 20kHz with .08 percent THD. Each channel of the SI-1260 provides high current output and generous, undistorted power to up to three 8-ohm loudspeakers without additional impedance matching. Dual Main Bus broadcast audio signals to all 12 channels, while Nilesí unique BusMatrixô, developed for the legendary SI-1200 Systems Integration Amplifier, configures each channel as left, right or summed mono for each of the two Bus Inputs. Each channel also has a line-level input RCA jack for direct input to that channel only. The result is a Systems Integration Amplifier that delivers unparalleled power for distributed applications. The Si-1260 incorporates the same three turn-on modes as the SI-1230 ñ music sense, voltage trigger and manual ñ with addition of an automated microprocessor control that can distinguish between low volume music and spurious noise for reliable amplifier activation. The enhanced microprocessor controlled protection features include Nilesí proprietary turn-on circuit that diminishes ""thump,"" as well as protection form brown-outs, overheating, DC output, over current, low impedance, and short circuits. Protection modes are monitored by the microprocessor and status is indicated via front-panel LEDs for fast, accurate troubleshooting. The SI-1260ís audio circuitry employs the finest parts available, including high quality gold-flash, five-way binding posts and input connectors. A DB25 connector receives control voltages and line-level audio signals over a single cable from Nilesí A4.6zCi 4-Source/6-Zone Audio Preamplifier, eliminating the ""spaghetti"" of multiple RCA interconnects. The amplifier is housed in a new metal chassis thatís 17-inches wide and utilizes a 17 x 7x 3/8-inch extruded aluminum front panel. A 19-inch rack mount front panel version will be available by special order. A detachable two-wire line cord facilitates easier installation and removal in custom cabinetry. Innovative chassis isolation eliminates group loops while maintaining product safety without the need for a three-wire AC cord or a ground lift switch. The SI-1260 will be available in the first quarter of 2000 at Niles dealers for a suggested retail price of $2,495.
