Niles Audio Corporation, maker of a uniquely broad and deep line of products for multi-room and video entertainment, has introduced the innovative new A4.6Ci 4-Source/6-Zone Audio Preamplifier.Delivering high quality audio with convenient system-wide controls, the A4.6Ci is an important part of Nilesí synergistic new System Integration Electronicsô initiative, which provides a fresh and innovative approach to developing the components for a flexible yet powerful distributed audio/video architecture.The A4.6Ci also integrates seamless with Nilesí new IntelliPadÆ Ci Keypad Control System (see accompanying release). The IntelliPad Ci System is an attractive, intelligent, intuitive and affordable solution for total control of whole-house A/V systems. It consists of a central controller called the IntelliPad Ci Server, and a series of handsome keypads and controls.The A4.6Ci is the ultimate command center for distributed audio systems. It includes a built-in IntelliPad Ci Server, enable system designer and consumer to experience all the flexibility, performance and compatibility associated with the IntelliPad Ci System. Since the A4.6Ci is also a preamplifier, consumers can enjoy up to four audio sources simultaneously in up to six different zones.The A4.6Ci also blends seamlessly with Nilesí new SI-1260 Systems Integration Amplifierô. A DB-25 connector, present on both components, enable control voltages and line-level audio signals to be transferred on a single cable without the need for RCA interconnects.Its components power synchronization ensures proper turn-on and turn-off sequencing of connected equipment. Dynamic source indication by zone ensures that all keypads in the same zone will display the current source selection. The A4.6Ciís non-volatile flash memory protects the systemís programming and remains intact through repeated and prolonged power failure, eliminating the need for a backup battery.The A4.6Ciís rear panel offers four RCA audio input connections with a buffered pass-through and six zone audio outputs with variable volume. Data in and out mini-plug connections are provided to accommodate system expansion. Two RCA inputs detect 12V or video to provide proper power synchronization for connected sources. A 12V trigger output is also included to operate the other 12V controller device. The A4.6Ci is housed in a 17-inch chassis. An optional rack mount kit is available.Additionally, the A4.6Ci includes a telephone system interface that enables paging throughout all zones, and two programming options ñ on-board hardware for programming on the fly and easy-to-use WindowsÆ-based software.The A4.6Ci 4-Source/6-Zone Audio Preamplifier will be available from Niles dealers in the first quarter of 2000.
