Miller & Kreisel Sound (M&K) will demonstrate its first self-powered speaker, the S-150P THX, leading off its formidable line up of new products for the Winter 2000 CES show. Other product introductions include the Surround 55 Tripole that retail for under $700 per pair; the LCR-45, the company's smallest speaker; the LCR 55 Mark II, now featuring M&K's acclaimed High-Frequency Prism design; and new furniture-grade finishes in light and dark cherry, as well as high-gloss black, on some of the company's most popular speaker systems. The S-150P ($1,699), M&K's first self-powered biamplified monitor, is based on the company's highly successful S-150THX. This new product, with dual 180-watt power amplifiers, uses the same driver complement as the S-150THX (three 1-inch soft-dome tweeters and two 5.25-inch poly woofers), but is capable of greater output and dynamic range because of the biamplification and the elimination of a passive crossover. Using M&K's exclusive Active Phase-Focused crossover, the S-150P has extremely flat frequency response and has been optimized for multichannel applications. Offering both balanced and unbalanced inputs, this speaker gives system designers and installers an additional option with great flexibility and simplicity while insuring excellent sound quality. The SURROUND-55 ($699/pr.) represents the long-awaited release of M&K's second Tripole Surround speaker design. This speaker is the smallest and most economical speaker that delivers the superior sonic performance associated with M&K's Tripole design. Identical in size and shape to another new product introduction, the LCR-55 Mk II (see below), the Surround-55 adds two 3.5-inch dipole drivers to the LCR-55's complement and uses M&K's exclusive High-Frequency Prism design and Phase-Focused crossover to deliver exceptional sound quality throughout the listening area. The LCR-45 ($199/ea.) is M&K's most compact Satellite speaker, which distinguishes itself with enough high performance capabilities to excel as either the main, center or surround speakers in even the most sophisticated 5.1 multichannel setup or two-channel satellite-subwoofer system. This diminutive (7 7/8-inch H x 4 7/8-inch W x 6-inch D) uses a very high quality 1-inch soft-domeNeodymium tweeter and a very high-performance 4-inch woofer along with an M&K Phase-Focused crossover. Fully magnetically shielded, this no-compromise speaker has been designed for sonic performance, not to hit a specific price point. It easily outperforms speakers of comparable size, while delivering M&K quality in the most compact package yet.The LCR-55 Mk II ($250/ea.) is an updated version of the highly successful LCR-55 speaker. The Mark II version adds M&K's exclusive High-Frequency Prism system. This combines a stylish, high-tech heavy curved mesh metal grille with a 4.7 degree tweeter mounting angle and a Phase-Focused crossover to form the High-Frequency Prism. The High-Frequency Prism system vastly improves the speaker's off-axis response (as well as the on-axis response) by shaping a very smooth and extended flat high-frequency response over a very wide listening window. The window is directed for optimum imaging, requiring separate left and right speakers. The highly-acclaimed and three-time award-winning M&K 750 THX Select system is now available in a beautiful high-gloss black finish. Additionally, several of M&K's most successful models are also now available in a brand-new fine-furniture grade Light and Dark Cherry finish. Included are the S-150THX, S-125, and S-85 Satellite speakers, the matching LDM-125 pedestal stands, and the MX-350THX, MX-150THX, MX-200, and MX-125 Mk II Powered Subwoofers.
