Infinity Introduces High-End Intermezzoô And Popular Priced Interludeô Series Loudspeakers At CES 2000
At CES 2000, Infinity Systems, Inc. introduced its high-end Intermezzo Series and popularly priced Interlude Series home theatre and stereo loudspeakers. The new Intermezzo Series brings the superlative sonic performance of Infinityís groundbreaking Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragmô (C.M.M.D.) technology and Room Adaptive Bass Optimization Systemô (R.A.B.O.S.) to a unique range of loudspeaker designs and home-entertainment systems. Infinityís new Interlude Series provides outstanding sound quality in a broad range of models utilizing C.M.M.D. and including Infinityís Bass Optimization Systemô (B.O.S.) on powered models. The Intermezzo Series: Form And Function Raised To A New Level Infinityís Intermezzo Series loudspeakers convey all the power and subtlety of music and movie soundtracks with exceptional clarity, resolution and dynamic impact, achieving a remarkable sense of sonic realism. The Intermezzo Seriesí refined sonic performance is matched by the speakersí stunning appearance, featuring boldly contoured cast-aluminum enclosures with dramatically curved front, side and rear surfaces. The textured platinum powder-coat finish of the enclosures is highlighted by a choice of natural maple, cherry or black anigre decorative side panels. To complete the home dÈcor options of Intermezzo, three grille cloth colors are available, including warm platinum, rich burgundy, and midnight blue. Models in the Intermezzo Series will include the Intermezzo 4.1t floorstanding speaker (SRP: $2,500/each; Intermezzo 2.6 bookshelf (SRP: $2,000 per pair); Intermezzo 3.5c center-channel speaker (SRP: $1,200) and Intermezzo 1.2s subwoofer (SRP: $1,800). To achieve their extraordinary sonic accuracy, Intermezzo Series loudspeakers utilize the companyís patent pending Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (C.M.M.D.) driver technology. C.M.M.D. drivers are produced through a proprietary process of deep anodizing ceramic material to both sides of an aluminum core, producing driver diaphragms of ultra-low mass and ultra-high rigidity for extraordinary transient response, resolution and significantly reduced distortion and cone breakup. Performance is further enhanced by Infinityís unique Room Adaptive Bass Optimization System (R.A.B.O.S). This system enables the user to overcome the under-100Hz room resonances typically encountered in the listening room via the use of built-in parametric equalization adjustments. All Intermezzo models (except the 3.5c center-channel) include the R.A.B.O.S. circuit and are supplied with a complete R.A.B.O.S. kit, including test CD, sound level meter and step-by-step instructions that enable the user to make calibrations quickly and easily. Intermezzo Series models include a number of additional exclusive features that underscore Infinityís commitment to designing room friendly loudspeakers that will maximize sonic performance in any listening room. For example, the Intermezzo 2.6 includes a shelf/stand placement switch that optimizes performance for placement either close to a wall (shelf or wall unit), or on stands, while the Intermezzo 3.5c center-channel features a unique control that optimizes the speakerís low-frequency response to the size of the TV it is placed upon. Infinity Intermezzo loudspeakers will begin shipping in February 2000. The Interlude Series: Superb Sound, Exceptional Value Setting new standards in high-performance, high-value home-theater and stereo loudspeakers, the Infinity Interlude Series incorporates Infinityís Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragmô (C.M.M.D.) driver technology to deliver superlative sonic performance at extremely attractive price points. In addition, Interlude Series IL 50 and IL 60 loudspeakers, as well as IL100s and IL120s powered subwoofers, feature a Bass Optimization Systemë (B.O.S.) that provides the ability to adjust the loudspeakersí bass response to the listening room. If desired, consumers can purchase an optional R.A.B.O.S. accessory kit to provide in-room measurements and assist in determining the optimum settings for the Bass Optimization settings. The initial models in the Infinity Interlude Series will include a compact bookshelf monitor, two passive floorstanding slim-tower models, two floorstanding models with built-in powered subwoofers, two dedicated center-channel speakers and two powered subwoofers. Infinity Interlude Series loudspeakers feature enclosures with curved and chamfered front baffles that give the Series an elegant, understated, sculpted appearance and provide significant sonic benefits. In addition to the standard warm platinum grille, optional rich burgundy or midnight blue grilles are available to complement any home and dÈcor. A choice of vinyl finishes are available including natural maple, natural cherry and black-stained anigre. Suggested retail prices range from $449 for a pair of bookshelf speakers (IL 10) to a complete six-piece Interlude Modulus System at $1,599. Infinity Interlude loudspeakers will begin shipping in March 2000.
