56W HDTV, Flat-Screen 27-Inch TV Among Five Zenith Products Earning Innovations 2000 Awards
Five Zenith products, including its 56-inch widescreen (56W) integrated HDTV set and 27-inch FLATRONô TV with a true flat picture tube, were selected for Innovations 2000 design and engineering awards at CES 2000. Recognizing the industryís best designed and engineered products, Innovations 2000 is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association and endorsed by the Industrial Designers society of America and the Consumer Electronics Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. ""This is a tribute to the men and women of Zenith and our parent company, LG Electronics (LGE), for their design skills and engineering prowess."" 56W HDTV Set Sporting a unique design with a slide-on screen protector and motorized, lighted control panel, Zenithís rear-projection 56W model is an integrated HDTV set. Built around an all-format ATSC DTV receiver and a high-performance NTSC analog tuner, this set features digital convergence, Guide Plus+ program guide, an intuitive on-screen menu system, ATSC/NTSC PIP (Picture-In-Picture), a universal remote control, parental control, and the EZ feature package including EZ volume limiter. The 56W includes a three-line digital comb filter, scan velocity modulation and extensive jack panels with 23 AV jacks (including Component Video, Multiple S-Video, 15-pin VGA/HD-DBS input) and concealed front jacks. 27-Inch FLATRON TV With a dramatic design in a champagne color brushed metal finish cabinet, this 27-inch set is one of the very few sets on the market with a truly flat picture tube. The proprietary FLATRON tube technology, developed by LGE, achieves a flat surface on both the outside and the inside of the screen allowing brighter images and enhanced color purity without the screen distortions or damping wires typically associated with other flat tube monitors. The result is a clearer image, more vibrant color reproduction and reduced glare. The 27-inch FLATRON set includes an array of jacks and Zenithís EZ feature package, including EZ Picture, EZ Sound and EZ Sound Rite. LCD TV And Other Products One of Zenithís first liquid crystal television displays, introduced at the 2000 International Consumer Electronics Show, is the 15.1-inch ""Extra Slim"" TFT LCD TV. This set features a unique table-top design, has a high resolution PC monitor (XGA grade) and a HDTV signal (720p) display capability. The Extra Slim also has a Digital Comb Filter, MTS stereo and has jacks that allow hook up for AV, DVD, S-Video and Earphones. Also were honored with Innovations 2000 Awards were another 15.1-inch LCD product (a high-tech computer monitor) and a 6-head VCR.
