Avlar Research Technology announces the dawn of a ""new era"" in sound reproduction with the introduction of the patented AVLAR Thin Film Transducer. Instead of pushing air like most conventional dynamic speakers, this remarkable reproductive device compresses air between the pleats of its thin film diaphragm in order to accurately generate sound. Surpassing the speed of ribbon and electrostatic drivers, and incorporating the dynamics and efficiency of horn loaded compression drivers, the AVLAR TFT driver is unique in its ability to fully portray all of the benefits of todayís ""state of the art"" digital source material.Working with the late Dr. Oscar Heil for several years, designer Jack Smiley refined and expanded his original concept into the edge of the art AVLAR TFT driver, for which a patent was recently granted. Using the highly efficient TFT design, Avlar has produced TFT drivers that will generate SPLs in excess of 100 dB at one meter with an input of only one watt. The extraordinary speed of the AVLAR TFT is indicated by its measured rise time of only 15 microseconds, and the TFT is distinct in its capability to reproduce a square wave. Harmonic distortion is exceptionally low, with the second harmonic typically over 50 dB below the fundamental frequency.
