Planned ReplayZones include editorial zones such as a movie zone that features a variety of selections including action flicks, westerns, romantic comedies, science fiction movies and mysteries. By selecting a category such as westerns, viewers can see a list of upcoming western movies in listings and select the desired one for recording. With sponsored ReplayZones, such as the CNN/SI Sports Zone, for example, viewers will be able to scroll through lists of sports like football, basketball, hockey and soccer. By clicking on basketball, for example, they can see a list of upcoming basketball games and other basketball-related programs airing on Turner networks, any of which viewers can select for automatic recording and later on-demand viewing.Real-Time Search For TV ShowsThe real-time key-word search brings the speed and convenience of a Web-like search engine to television viewers. With the new search function, called Find Shows, viewers can use the ReplayTV remote to enter a word like ""Eastwood."" Within seconds, all movies, talk shows or other programs where Clint Eastwood is slated to appear during the next week are listed on the screen. These shows can be marked for recording for on-demand playback at a later time. Using the Find Shows feature, viewers can search for keywords in the actor, director, show title and show description data fields that are included with the ReplayTV Service.Slo-Mo, Still-Frame AdvanceWhen introduced last year, ReplayTV's functions gave viewers new levels of control over live television, including pause, fast-forward, rewind and instant replay of live television. Now with variable-speed slow motion, viewers can slow live TV to a crawl using their remote control. Viewers can also advance still pictures frame by frame, an ideal feature for settling controversial calls on televised sporting events.Save-To-VCR, Preserve Show, Standby ModeA new enhancement to the record-to-VCR function is an on-screen interactive guide that helps viewers archive shows to videotape. The new feature also records a descriptive label showing the program title, recording date and length. With the new preserve-show option, ReplayTV users can easily designate any recorded program to be saved for viewing rather than having its space recycled for other shows. Also being delivered through the ReplayTV Service is a ""Standby mode"" feature that turns off the hard drive when the system isnít in use or isnít anticipating an upcoming recording. This feature increases hard-drive life, reduces noise and saves energy.Downloads To All ReplayTV ModelsAll new ReplayTV Service features, including ReplayZones, real-time search, slow-motion, still-frame advance, preserve show, VCR-countdown and standby mode, are planned to be automatically downloaded free to existing ReplayTV customers in the first quarter of 2000.Product Availability, PricingPriced at $699 with 20 hours of storage, ReplayTV - which includes the free ReplayTV Service - is available at Amazon.com, 800.com, Roxy.com, Gigabuys.com, ValueAmercia.com and direct from Replay Networks at http://www.replaytv.com or toll-free at 800-266-1301.
