Zenith Applauds Broadcasters For Support Of Digital Television Standard
Zenith Electronics Corporation applauded the Association for Maximum Service Television (MSTV) for continuing its strong support for the U.S. digital television (DTV) standard and the 8-VSB digital transmission system. On the heels of yesterday's MSTV Board of Directors meeting, Zenith President and CEO Ian Woods said: ""The broadcasters' reaffirmation of support for the FCC's digital TV standard will help keep the momentum going for DTV. That's great news for American consumers who will benefit both from more HDTV programs and new advanced digital receivers. ""As the developers of the FCC-approved 8-VSB digital transmission system, Zenith is committed to working with others in the industry on continued improvements in receiver and antenna technologies."" The FCC adopted the digital TV standard in late 1996. Today, more than 60 percent of U.S households are in range of a digital TV signal and, according to the Consumer Electronics Association, more than 600,000 DTV products are expected to be sold in the U.S. this year.
