Martinsound Introduces MultiMAX EX & Expands Options
Martinsound introduces MultiMAX EX, a new version of its popular multiformat multichannel monitor controller. MultiMAX EX will control up to eight speaker channels, configured as three or five front monitor channels with two, three, or four rear surround channels. The new version has been introduced in response to the development of new audio production formats incorporating additional rear surround channels, such as Dolby(r) Digital Surround EX(tm). MultiMAX EX adds comprehensive surround sound functionality to any stereo mixing console by providing extensive monitoring facilities for 8-, 7-, 6-, and 4-channel formats. The unit controls multiple speaker systems, facilitates downmix compatibility and quality checks, and includes bass redirection and system calibration tools. The downmixing features in MultiMAX EX have been expanded from the standard version to correctly fold-down the new formats. Standard MultiMAX units may be upgraded to the EX version. Additional MultiMAX enhancements are also now available on new orders, or through the installation of feature upgrade firmware to current units, comprising the addition of an SPL Display Range mode, an extension of the monitor level range by 30dB and the addition of a Wide Inputs Interlock mode. The features are accessed through a new menu page in the Setup Directory. An optional electronic balancing kit that converts MultiMAX and MultiMAX EX's sixteen single-ended balanced impedance monitor outputs to fully differential balanced outputs, and brings the levels to a true +4dB, is also now available to new and existing users.
