Miller Freeman, and the IRMA, organizers of the DVD Europe 2000 in London, England, have announced the program for the European DVD conference which will be held at the Shaw Conference Centre in Central London. As with last year's London DVD conference, this year's event will concentrate purely on the European market, sharing information on the development of the European market for both Hollywood and local content owners. The conference program has been established by the Co-chairs, Dana Parker and ""One to One"" editor Tim Frost. The conference has moved away from the basic ""what is DVD"" approach that the organizers say was important last year, as the knowledge base on DVD is better established, now DVD has had a clear year of sales. The new program splits into two streams, one for the business sector and the other, a more technical stream, for those directly involved in authoring and putting together releases. According to Tim Frost, the conference will concentrate more on discussion with plenty of examples of DVD content, rather than single presentations. ""Having individual presentations followed up with panel discussions is a much more satisfactory way of exploring the issues in this developing market,"" he notes. The first day of the two-day event, covering May 22-23, 2000, will finish with the awarding of the DVD EuropA awards, which recognize excellence in DVD production for releases available in the European market.
