""Virtual Box Office"" Delivers Online Movie Catalog

Kanakaris Communications, Inc., launched 45 movie titles at 100kbps and 300kbps broadband on its Web site www.KKRS.net, as part of its participation in the Microsoft Broadband Jumpstart Initiative. These full-screen, full-motion, TV-quality pictures join over 220 films, which are accessible to all Internet users at a variety of access speeds on the Kanakaris entertainment Web sites. Currently, Kanakaris offers over 220 films in genres including family, horror, sci-fi, comedy and action. In November, Web traffic to KKRS.net grew by 50 percent over the previous month, resulting in 1.38 million page views, nearly 257,000 sessions served, and over 16 million hits from six continents. ""With more than 220 movies available on demand, they are providing a great Internet viewing experience at their virtual theater,"" commented David Fester, Director of Marketing for Microsoftís streaming media division. Kanakaris intends to offer free movies supported by advertising, $4.95 per month subscriptions, offer unlimited 27/7 access to a larger number of films and individual pay-per-view access to special films and Web events with broadband delivery. In December of 1995 Kanakaris offered the first full-length movies with no download time. An independent study by PC Data recently found Windows Media Player to be the fastest growing media player in the market, growing 34 percent over the past three months. Six out of 10 media players, according to the study, are now using Windows Media Player. Source: www.medialinenews.com
