Canopus Launches EZDV Video Editing Package To Make Editing Home Movies Easy
Canopus Corporation announced EZDV, a video capture and nonlinear editing package for consumers. EZDV lets consumers easily transfer video from a DV or Digital8 camcorder to the PC, then efficiently arrange clips, add titles, transitions and a soundtrack. EZDV reflects the strong engineering and product stability found in Canopus' professional level video products, but at a low suggested retail price of $249. To get consumers editing quickly, Canopus is including EZEdit nonlinear editing software, which combines ease-of-use features with a straightforward interface. To make videos sizzle, Sonic Desktop's SmartSound soundtrack creation software and Canopus' SoftXplode 3D effects software are also included. EZDV uses Canopus' high performance, multi-threaded software DV CODEC and connects to DV and Digital8 camcorders using the industry standard IEEE 1394/iLINK connector, allowing users to capture, edit, and output without any loss in video quality. Key features found in Canopus' professional products that have been incorporated into EZDV are accurate batch capture, and the ability to capture an unlimited amount of video into one .AVI file, overcoming the 2GB file limitation of .AVI. Easily Capture, Edit And Add Transitions And Effects With EZNavigator cataloging software users can automatically scan tapes and create a clip catalog. After finishing the catalog users can arrange and save the list and then batch capture just the clips they need with EZEdit. EZEdit lets users batch capture clips from the video tape, assemble in the timeline, easily add transitions, titles and effects and output the final production back to the DV camera or deck. EZEdit also incorporates high quality filtering and image enhancement for still image capture. With Sonic Desktop's SmartSound users can create soul-stirring, precisely-timed soundtracks in minutes. The simple interface offers quick music creation using a number of musical themes from easy listening jazz to rock and roll. Canopus' SoftXplode lets users add 3D and alpha video effects to video productions.
