Proton Debuts New MM-2701VT 27-Inch DTV/PC/NTSC Flat-Screen Multimedia Monitor/Receiver At ICES

Proton Corporation, a leader in the design and manufacture of high-end, high performance video and audio products, introduced its new MM-2701VT 27-inch DTV/PC/NTSC Multimedia Monitor/Receiver. The Proton MM-2701VT was honored with the International Consumer Electronics Show's prestigious INNOVATIONS 2000 Design & Engineering Award in the On-Line/Internet Category. The MM-2701VT was designed to serve as the visual centerpiece of a sophisticated home theatre entertainment/information system by delivering both high-resolution video signal source images and flexible real-world interactive capability. The Proton MM-2701VT is a true multimedia monitor/receiver with a digital display and is fully compatible with all 18 HDTV/SDTV formats. The MM-2701VT offers component video inputs Y/Pr/Pb (15-48kHz) compatible with 15.7kHz Y/Pr/Pb from a DVD player or high-end HDTV/SDTV set-top box for optimum digital TV display. With dual RGB inputs (one rear and one front) for DTV, PC or Network computer, it displays standard VGA (640x480), SVGA (800x600) and (1024x768) resolutions. The front panel RGB / A/V input allows for easy connection of PC games or notebook computers. Convenient S-video and audio/video inputs are also located on the front panel. The Proton MM-2701VT features a 181-channel auto-programming NTSC tuner, and offers a wide 60MHz video bandwidth. Horizontal scanning frequency is 15-48kHz and vertical scanning frequency is 24-100Hz. The CRT's dot pitch is 0.8mm. Viewers may choose from three selectable color temperature settings. A full-featured remote control offer easy-to-use, on-screen menu programming for all the MM-2701VT's myriad functions and features. To streamline custom installations, the unit features Proton's proprietary Custom Installation Programmable Microprocessor (CIPM) which offers the system installer direct access to the microprocessor for custom programming of the monitor/receiver's operating functions. The MM-2701VT features a parent's Channel Block and V-Chip. A clock timer powers the set on or off at a specific time set by the user. Auto Shut-Off turns the set off five minutes after the TV program stops. The Proton MM-2701VT also includes a built-in four channel closed caption and SAP (Separate Audio Program) decoder. To deliver excellent audio signal reproduction, the MM-2701VT offers a high-quality three-way audio system composed of dual bi-amplified five-watt-per-channel full-range speakers, two one-inch tweeters and a heavy-bass 18-watt subwoofer powered by a dedicated amplifier. A selectable audio effects switch (Stereo, Mono, Extra Bass and Spatial Expansion) allows precise adjustment of sound. The Spatial Expansion mode utilizes the patented SpatializerÆ Audio Processor circuitry to create a ""three dimensional"" surround sound listening experience. The Proton MM-2701VT measures 29 1/2 inches wide, 23 3/4 inches high and 20 3/4 inches deep. The suggested retail price is $1,700.
