MGI Software Enters Commercial Partnership With DVDplus

MGI Software has revealed a commercial partnership with DVDplus that will provide European users of MGI SoftDVD MAX - MGI's software-only DVD player - with a direct link to the DVDplus Web site (which stocks every DVD released to the UK market. Simply clicking on the MGI logo in SoftDVD MAX immediately launches the user's browser and transports them to the DVDplus site. Once there, visitors can choose from an extensive range of DVD titles and take advantage of the regular discounts and special promotions featured on the DVDplus Web site. In return for attracting interested MGI SoftDVD MAX users to the DVDplus web site, the companies have entered into a revenue sharing agreement. The partnership is similar in nature to the relationship MGI Software has established with DVD EXPRESS for North American users. According to David Mercer, UK-based Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, European shipments of DVD drives are predicted to reach 12.6 million units during the year 2000. ""By 2005, we predict that 63 percent of European homes will own at least one DVD device,"" said Mercer. Anthony DeCristofaro, President and CEO, MGI Software, said, ""MGI SoftDVD MAX extends the DVD experience beyond the PC, smoothly and effectively linking users to the Internet. Through our partnership with DVDplus, we are able to bring customers convenient online access to the best selection of DVDs at the best prices.""
