Digital Origin Announces EditDV 2.0 For Macintosh

Fast, Professional-Quality Desktop Video Editor Adds Third-Party Plug-In Support, Integrated Web Export And Other Powerful Features

Digital Origin announced EditDV 2.0 - the latest version of the company's award-wining desktop video editor for Macintosh users. The new version adds support for third party plug-ins, export to Web streaming formats, slip, slide and ripple editing from the timeline, improved camera compatibility and a new track keyer for improved luma keying. ""This product fulfills a tremendous demand among video editors,"" said Tom Fristoe, Digital Origin's Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. ""EditDV, already the fastest and most popular editor for the Macintosh platform, now provides added functionality that makes it easier than ever for videographers to flex their creative muscles and produce videos quickly and efficiently,"" he said. Digital Origin says its EditDV is the industry's first DV-native editing product. Optimized for the DV format, EditDV 2.0 adds professional features and leverages open standards for a truly scalable editing environment. EditDV 2.0 includes direct support for QuickTime Effects, the plug-in architecture which is rapidly becoming a standard interface for adding specialized effects to QuickTime-based video applications. The export for Web streaming feature lets users access QT Export for saving movies directly to popular Web formats including QuickTime, Sorenson, AVI, Cinepak and others. This means that movies can be directly exported from the timeline to a compressed format and readied for the Web with no additional steps. The timeline editing feature delivers improved editing from the timeline and more tools for directly manipulating clips from the timeline. Clip linking, multiple selection for dragging, and roll and ripple editing from the sequencer are all designed to make editors more productive. EditDV 2.0 now supports all the latest DV camcorders. In addition, Apple G4 and iMacDV owners using Mac OS 9.02 or later can use EditDV 2.0 with Apple's built-in FireWire ports. The EditDV 2.0 package includes the EditDV software application, Digital Origin RotoDV for painting and special effects, Digital Origin PhotoDV for still image capture, SpiceRack Pro Lite from Pixelan Software, Media Cleaner EZ 4.0 from Terran Interactive, and a Digital Origin 1394 IEEE FireWire card and cable. EditDV 2.0 can be purchased for $799. A software-only version is available for $599. Customers who purchased EditDV for Macintosh after February 5, 2000 will receive version 2.0 absolutely free. Other registered users of EditDV can upgrade for $99. The upgrade includes EditDV and Media Cleaner EZ 4.0 software on CD-ROM, a printed EditDV User Guide, a new online tutorial with sample projects, and free shipping in the US.
